BIOMIRU

FAQ

1. What is the difference between BIOMIRU and fixed-dome?

There are two types of biogas reactors: fixed-dome and mini home biogas (BIOMIRU). Both have different functions and forms. What distinguishes the most is the scale of its use, namely, the fixed-dome or concrete dome has a larger scale for storing manure than the Mini Home Biogas (BIOMIRU). Also, the building material. If the fixed-dome is made of concrete, the Biogas Mini Home is made of PE (Polyethylene).

Fixed-dome
Fixed-dome biogas technology is a biogas reactor technology in the form of a concrete dome. This concrete dome can convert organic waste, such as livestock manure, human manure, and other organic matter into biogas.

True to its name, this fixed-dome is a dome made of brick and concrete but buried underground and designed to be planted below ground level to avoid possible physical damage and save space. This fixed-dome can last up to 15 years, accompanied by a one year guarantee from Yayasan Rumah Energi. This concrete dome leads to SNI 7927: 2013, for biogas design leads to SNI 7826:2012.

BIOMIRU (Mini Home Biogas)
Meanwhile, Mini Home Biogas (BIOMIRU) is Yayasan Rumah Energi’s newest product innovation for urban people. Suppose fixed-dome biogas products or concrete domes generally require a lot of space to build reactor installations and animal manure as raw material for energy fuel and heavier fabrics. In that case, BIOMIRU comes with a size for limited land and biogas fuel raw materials from organic kitchen waste with a lighter but stronger material, namely PE (Polyethylene).

BIOMIRU is here to provide solutions for urban people who want to choose daily energy sources, especially for cooking. If biogas is known as renewable energy that requires a large amount of livestock manure as raw material, then BIOMIRU focuses on managing kitchen waste so that it does not become a problem and returning it to the kitchen again. In addition, the land required to build this reactor is not as large as a biogas reactor, which only needs 2-6 m2 of land.

2. What are the specifications of BIOMIRU material?

The amount of waste as raw material follows how big the tank you need. The following is a calculation of the required specifications to build BIOMIRU.

  • Land area for Biomiru development: 2m2 – 6m2
  • Material: water reservoir made of polyethylene (PE) and PVC pipe
  • Digester capacity: 650lt, 1,000lt, 2,000lt
Capacity (litre) Output Gas (liter) Duration of Cooking (minutes)
650 200 +-30
1.000 400 +-60
2.000 600 +-90

3. How do I get BIOMIRU, and is there a warranty system?

Also, BIOMIRU has a one-year guarantee facility for the leaked installation. If there is damage, you can contact the CPO team responsible while in the field.

4. Which parts are often leaked?

The BIOMIRU construction is similar to the fixed-dome construction. The only difference is the size and capacity. For the model and how it works is almost the same. Likewise, the maintenance system is also similar to the fixed-dome, namely with daily maintenance that is not complicated.

Even the level of risk of leakage is similar, namely at the pipe connection points. Because if there is a leak point even a little, the fermentation process in the tube will not run well, and gas cannot be produced.

The following are the hotspots that need attention because they are prone to leaks:

Leaks usually occur in the following places:

  • The connection between the dome of the gas pipe and the iron thread before the main gas valve
  • Connection between main gas valve and pipeline.
  • Every connection in the pipeline.
  • Connection between gas faucet and pipeline.
  • Connection between pipelines and gas lamps.
  • In addition, leaks can also come from equipment.

To check the spot of the leak, take the following steps:

  • Prepare soap and water.
  • Mix soap and water, then beat until foamy.
  • Apply foam to the connection points.
  • If there is a leak, the foam will break or move.

In addition to ensuring that there are no leaks so that the reactor can work optimally, it is also necessary to pay attention to the fixed dome reactor maintenance procedure. Among others:

  • Maintain a landfill above the dome regularly.
  • Clean and lubricate the main gas valve.
  • Clean and lubricate gas faucets.
  • Clean or repair gas lamps.
  • Clean or repair the water drain and overflow.
  • Repair pipe joints to stop leaks.
  • Clean the stove.
  • It is replacing the rubber hose pipe.

If, in less than a year, there is damage, the RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Corporation) team that is in charge of the field team can come to repair it because BIOMIRU has a one-year guarantee.

5. What is BIOMIRU’s financing process?

In addition to targeting urban communities, BIOMIRU also has a more specific target market, namely houses that require a strategy of economizing or cutting their daily needs. With this situation, in carrying out its programs, BIOMIRU has collaborated with 55 cooperatives and three micro-finance institutions (Rabobank Foundation, KIVA, and Bank Syariah Mandiri).

By joining the BIOMIRU financing program, users will get renewable technology efficiently and economically. Users will not feel burdened by the costs incurred at the start. Furthermore, with biogas technology, users will save a lot of daily expenses.

Plot:

  1. Users submit biogas development to CPO (Construction Partner Organization) or RESCO.
  2. CPO / RESCO will conduct a survey and create/fill in a pre-construction form which is signed by the user
  3. The user will tell the CPO / RESCO that the financing is from self-funding (cash or credit) or there is another party that finances it, for example, CSR funds.
  4. Then CPO and RESCO report to YRE to get an ID plant and register to get YRE subsidies.
  5. After obtaining the ID plant, the CPO immediately builds biogas, where the user must provide the fee.
