The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Jakarta works to promote and further develop the bilateral ties and co-operation between Indonesia and Norway, as well as to promote Norwegian interests in Indonesia. Norway’s development cooperation with Indonesia has a long term collaboration on governance, human rights and the environment. There is considerable cooperation between Norwegian and Indonesian universities, research centres, NGOs and businesses. The main focus areas for the Norwegian development cooperation with Indonesia are environment and natural resource management (the forest sector in particular), good governance, democratization and human rights, as well as women’s rights and gender equality. Other important areas of cooperation: Humanitarian aid, emergency relief and transitional support, institutional cooperation/Private sector development.
